Anthony Barnett, M.D.
Dr. Barnett is the Medical Director of Carena’s Seattle medical partner, Elliott Bay Medical Group PS. Dr. Barnett grew up in Oakland, California, and studied history and Russian language and worked as a social worker with Russian refugees before deciding to become a doctor. He has studied abroad in both Sweden and Russia. An interest in science and a desire to be able to help people in immediate and tangible ways led him to change career paths and attend medical school.
His internship and residency at Swedish Medical Center’s Family Medicine Residency Program included work at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, Madigan Army Medical Center, and the Veteran’s Administration Hospital. During his final year in residency, he helped prepare a health care needs assessment for Nakhodka, Russia—Oakland’s sister city.
Dr. Barnett is very excited to be helping to lead the way back to more traditional and holistic medicine by providing house calls with Carena. "I went to medical school because I enjoy caring for people and teaching them about their health. That’s hard to do under the pressures of the current health care system and I’m excited to be working in an environment where that’s once again possible." Outside of travel and medicine, his interests include photography, movies, and cooking. He lives with his wife and daughter in Seattle.
